A year in review.

Fireworks have started, so I guess that means it's time for that end-of-year meme. I wasn't actually going to do it, but you know what, it's a good way to keep track of how you've grown. Here's last year's, if anyone is interested to see how I've changed. And now:
☆2007☆
Also, um, I've made an flist cut. I missed out on checking my flist for two days and had to do a friends?show=p&skip=50 and I'm always sort of frightened by that. Please feel free to take me off your flists even if I've kept you, because after all, the New Years is all about making a fresh start. It's always defriending amnesty day on this journal (I know this is overused and stereotypic to say but whatever), and it's even moreso today. Also, I'm planning on keeping my lj mostly public, so don't worry, you aren't missing much if I've defriended you!
- What is one thing you did in 2007 that you'd never done before?
Signed a pre-lease! Met an internet friend! Drove from Houston to Austin and Austin to Houston all by myself. Started learning Japanese. Went to the gym. Lots of things, I suppose. - Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't really make resolutions anymore, although I would like to lose weight next year. I'm pretty sure that was my resolution last year and I don't quite think it happened, though I haven't really gained any weight either. - Did someone close to you give birth?
YES! My cousin Anna. A baby girl, who no longer looks like an alien. - Did anyone close to you die?
Yes, my grandmother on my mother's side. - What countries did you visit?
None. - What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
Better work eithic, more motivation for eating healthy, a job. - What dates from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
The day I got the call about my grandmother (note to self: going to class was a bad idea); meeting Ally, because um hello amazing. - What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Convincing my parents to let me meet Ally! Somehow getting an A in government! Making friends in college that I think I'll actually stay in touch with, at least for a little while. - What was your biggest failure?
Allowing myself to be lazy and to procrastinate. Getting a B in a class that could have been an A if I'd worked just a little harder. - Did you suffer illness or injury?
Well, I did have a gum graft? Aside from that, I don't think there's been anything major. - What was the best thing you bought?
Sadly, my Arashi calendar, poster, TIME CD, and Ohno Uchiwa. Yeah, I know. I know. - Whose behaviour merited celebration?
My mother's. - Whose behaviour made you appalled?
My mother's, my grandmother's, my father's, most definitely my Aunt C.'s. Also some other people I uh can't quite mention here. - Where did most of your money go?
Arashi. Useless things. External harddrive? I'm not really sure, money just seems to disappear sometimes, doesn't it. - What did you get really, really, really excited about?
JE concert DVD leaks, the new dresses I bought for my cousin's wedding, my iPod classic, summer vacation, getting an apartment for next year. - What song will always remind you of 2007?
Arashi - We Can Make It! - Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Probably sadder--I was expecting a better year than what actually happened, but really, things haven't been all that bad this year at all.
ii. thinner or fatter? Ugh, most likely fatter. This is such a recurring trend, how depressing.
iii. richer or poorer? Poorer. I really should get a job :\\ - What do you wish you'd done more of?
Socializing. Taking photos. Appreciating my friends. Oh, I don't know, just everything. - What do you wish you'd done less of?
Watching JE videos, worrying about what people think of me, being afraid of social situations where there are tons of people I don't know. - How will you be spending Christmas?
Dead I guess I was supposed to answer this before Christmas, oh well whatever. We had a small family dinner at my house, my family and my dad's mother, and mom had turkey and ham and dressing and mashed potatoes and broccoli casserole and it was all really nice. Oh, and we opened presents in the morning, so I spent a lot of the day converting all these videos I realized I had an urgent need to have on my iPod. - How will you be spending New Year's?
I'll probably leave my hibernation (aka sitting in my room doing nothing) at midnight to go wish my dad a happy new year; it's sort of tradition for me because normally we're the only ones who are still awake that late at night. Then in the morning we're apparently going to Pappasito's for brunch or something??? My mom was just like, "I COOKED FOR BOTH THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS, I REFUSE TO COOK FOR NEW YEARS TOO!!!!" So uh yeah. - Did you fall in love in 2007?
I wish. - Any one-night stands?
Fucking bawling, can anyone actually imagine me having a one-night stand. - What was your favourite TV program?
Pushing Daisies! - Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
My now ex-suitemate E. (well I guess I don't hate her but I certainly don't like her), her friend N. (definitely hate her), and um someone... else that I just... won't mention... - What was the best book you read?
Wow, did I actually read any books this year? Well I know I read a ton of romance novels last semester, but it's not like those were great works of literature. I did read the first two books in a series about a demon hunting soccer mom, and those were quite good! I think the first book is called Carpe Demon? - What was your greatest musical discovery?
Arashi :"[ - What did you want and get?
A suitemate I was able to be friends with. A new iPod. Kitty getting into UT. - What did you want and not get?
Losing 30 pounds :( - Favorite film of this year?
Oh gosh I've seen so many and I can't even remember what's all come out. Hairspray, though, probably. - What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was nineteen, and wow sadly I had to go and look at my lj post to figure out what I did. I went out with Alicia for a bit, then went to church (my birthday is a Catholic holiday), and then watched Heat Up! And also got the stitches from my gum graft out. - What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Being less obsessive about tiny annoyances. - How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
Threadless shirts and jeans and flip flops. Aka, being lazy. - What kept you sane?
Talking to Kitty, as always. - Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Bawling. Ohno Satoshi :( - What political issue stirred you the most?
Sadly I don't really get worked up over much of anything. I could have sworn there was something I felt mildly strong about, but I can't think of it at the moment. - Who do you miss?
I feel like I should say my grandmother, but the truth is that I'm quite at peace with her being gone, mainly because I feel she's in a better place, and I didn't see her that much her last few years anyway. I miss my friends, mostly, the ones in rl I hardly see anymore and the ones online who never update lj much anymore (why yes I am looking at YOU). I miss Kitty a lot, as always, but that will be changing next semester when we are ROOMING TOGETHER ♥ - Who was the best new person you met?
Audrey (suitemate),unrequitedangst.
- Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007:
Don't take things for granted! Don't let time slip away from you! - Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
What the hell, I can never remember song lyrics and now half the music I listen to is in Japanese anyways. I always mishear "We can make it true" from Arashi's We Can Make It! as "We can make it through," though, and even though it's not the actual line, I still feel it sums up the year.

What kept you sane?
Talking to Kitty, as always.
Likewise.
I am seriously so excited that in only about two weeks, we will be rooming together and I will be asking you constantly where such and such building is and be staring in horror and laughing every time I wake up to one of your Arashi posters on the wall every morning!

And um, hi! :D
